Wright's Death Ruled A Homicide



(Memphis, TN) -- The death of former NBA player Lorenzen Wright has reportedly been ruled a homicide by gunshot wound. According to the "Commercial Appeal," Wright's body was identified by the Shelby County Medical Examiner through dental records. The paper also reported that Wright's body was found in a wooded area in southeast Memphis. The report said the Memphis police department confirmed that a 911 call from Wright's phone was placed early in the morning on July 19th. An earlier report said he was last seen around 2 a.m. on that day.
Wright played collegiately at Memphis and was selected by the Los Angeles Clippers with the seventh overall pick in the 1996 NBA Draft. He went on to spent 13 years in the league with the Clippers, Atlanta Hawks, Memphis Grizzlies, Sacramento Kings and Cleveland Cavaliers. He averaged eight points and 6.4 rebounds over 778 career games. Wright was only 34 years old.
